Internet Marketing - Are You Taking Inventory?

By now, you should be seeing what it is going to take to succeed in the world of Internet Marketing. It isn’t enough to have a website. It isn’t enough to paste a product on the site. If you do that and watch your bank account, you will be sorely disappointed. A lot of places that promise you the world with little or no effort don’t tell you the whole story.

There is work involved.

It takes concentrated, tireless effort to generate traffic. Sites like Google or America Online are established and don’t have to worry so much about promotion to get traffic. They did in the beginning. But once established, getting new people in the door was not as important as getting the old people to stay. You have to provide value to the customer/visitor to earn their trust and earn their business.

Take an Inventory.

You should keep a list of things that work. After a while you will notice by tracking your visitors (usually through webmaster tools or the cpanel) that there are certain days of the week that you attract more visitors. My site usually attracts about 19-20% more on Saturdays than it does on Fridays. There are a lot of reasons for this, but I notice that the content that I post on Fridays and Saturdays matters to visitors. You start to notice that the use of long keyword phrases tend to increase your visitor rate as well. Keep in mind that what may work for you may spell disaster for others. Keep trying until you find the perfect mix for you.

When I first began, I didn’t have any affiliate sites linked on my homepage. But after experimenting a bit, I am discovering those that work well. You can experiment with your sites as well. Just keep an open mind and the goal in focus.

Have a GREAT day!

When Are You Going To Be Serious About What It Takes To Succeed In Your Internet Business?

Hopefully the answer to that question is NOW! Or ALWAYS! Sometimes Internet entrepreneurs start out and continue to be casual about the whole prospect. They read the stories that them them how easy it is to make boatloads of cash with a minimal of effort. So, that is what they do: Put forth minimal effort. Little do they realize (until too late sometimes) that making a living of the Internet, which can be done, takes honest time and effort. It is the old adage of what effort you put into something will greatly affect the outcome.

Keep a positive mental attitude and put the effort into your venture, and you will get some positive results. Be sour and negative, and your chances of achieving success are greatly diminished. It’s up to you. When I first started with a website and a blog, I put my heart into it and saw quite a bit of traffic to my sites. I was regularly updating my sites and pinging on a daily basis. I also visited many related sites and left comments (with my website as a contact point) and saw a bit of traffic there. But after a few months, I hadn’t seen a vast increase in traffic because I was only posting twice a week and not visiting other sites and leaving my name and mark there.

I began to seriously look at some of the social networking sites to increase the traffic, and that has helped tremendously. I reconnected with some of my friends and former students to which I have been a silent mystery for years. I got a profile on Facebook and Twitter and spent some effort making my website known there.

Traffic has increased dramatically. I also realize that the attention span of many is shortening as time goes on, so more of an effort is being put on short, information-filled messages. You just have to be open to try new things and stick with the things that are working and find changes to make to get other things working as well.

Just keep at it and working at it until you find what works for you. It may happen overnight because you might stumble across what is working for you immediately, but it make take longer. Just be patient.

Have a GREAT day!

Are YOU Having Internet Marketing Success?

Much has been written here to help you achieve a degree of Internet Marketing success. As it has been stated before, just having a website, no matter how great it may be, is not the only step to achieving your dream of financial independence. Just as if you had a great restaurant and nobody ate there, who would ever know that you served some of the most creative and delicious food on the planet? Who would recommend your restaurant to the their friends and neighbors? Who would eagerly look forward to the next special that you had there?

Nobody.

Sounds sad and lonely, doesn’t it? Sad, lonely, and true. If you don’t “ping” your daily writing/posts to your website, not even a search engine will find and catalog your website out there. Try pinggoat, for starters. At least get your name out there. You can also submit articles to ezinearticles.com and that can be a slow, but steady source of traffic. You might do a PPC (pay per click) campaign with Google Adwords or type “PPC Advertising” into the search bar of  Google and find other ways to generate traffic to your site. You might have to pay for traffic in the beginning, but, once the traffic starts to flow, so does the cash flow as well.

You might even try traditional advertising like the newpaper (non-traditional like Craigslist). What ever you do, just do something! Make note of what works and what doesn’t. What works for one person, may not work at all for another. You never know until it is used.

Here’s to YOUR Internet Marketing success, and have a GREAT day!

Internet Marketing – What Drives You To Succeed?

Sometimes it is not enough to want to succeed in Internet Marketing. Many people just purchase a website and stick a product on that website and are disappointed when their PayPal account isn’t overflowing with cash. That fits the definition of a pipe dream. Just wishing for success takes more than a wish. There are people that dream of winning a million dollars in the Lottery, but never even bother to go to the store and purchase a ticket.

Write it down.

There is something compelling about writing your goals for Internet Marketing. What do you want to accomplish? How much money do you want to make? There is a difference between saying more money and saying $100,000. If you have twenty dollars in your pocket and somebody gives you a quarter, guess what? You have more money.  Goals need to be measurable. You will know when you have $100,000. It can be measured.

Goals need to be short-term, intermediate, and long-term. What do you want to accomplish in the next two month? The next year? Ten years from now? Once you know where you want to go, develop a plan to get there and break it up into steps that you can attain in measurable increments.

Review the goals often. The problem with New Year’s resolutions is that people will write a lofty goal and, once January 1 has passed, it is put away until the next year. When you look at your goals every day, you reaffirm in your mind that which you want to accomplish. Set aside some time every day to review and even revise your goals.

A Compelling Sales Letter Can Drive More People to Your Website

Perhaps one of the best tools that you can find in your drive to success in Internet Marketing is a sales letter. A well-crafted letter can compel people to eventually open up their wallet, but there are some things that any successful sales letter will have

  • A compelling headline – You have to have a headline that draws people into your website. If you have a bland headline, you will get a bland audience, and a bland audience is not what you want
  • Bullet points – It is good to have three or four points to your letter and you need to highlight those points with bullets. Three is the optimal number, but this will help to enforce the benefits of what the (potential) customer will gain by buying your product.
  • Tell them how much it costs – But don’t it right away. They need to read more of the letter before you reveal what it will cost them. Put it too early without describing the benefits and people will quickly close the letter without reading it.
  • Guarantee what you sell – If you don’t believe it yourself, you will have a difficult time selling it. There was a time a few years ago that I was a salesman for DSL, but I lived in an area that didn’t have it, so I couldn’t really speak from experience.

I have used these same techniques for the successful sale of my ebook Never Surrender!! Use these techniques and you can succeed too!

Absolutely Amazing Headlines for Success in Internet Marketing!!

One of the keys of success in Internet Market is having a compelling headline. Let’s face it, if you don’t have an attention-grabbing headline, people will probably not stop at your website (and if they don’t stop at your website, they won’t buy anything). Think about it: Why do you think that magazines like The National Inquirer are still so successful? Their headlines. You may think that it is a little extreme, but it is a very effective tool that has served many for so long. I know that there have been articles or advertisements that I have clicked on just because of their title, don’t you think that others will do the same?

How do you come up with an exciting headline? One of the best (and free) ways is to  spend time online. Read other’s headlines. Make note of the ones that are convicting enough to make you want to click through. You can start a swipe-file on a Word document or a notepad that you can refer to later. When I am running low on creativity I find that my swipe-file will get me through.

You can, of course, find programs on the Internet to create you headlines for you. These are great if you have absolutely no creative juices flowing in your body. Just be careful and don’t spend a fortune.

Just be sure to have a compelling reason for somebody to come to your site.

Internet Marketing – Do You Work On A Busy Street?

The point that is being made is that your website will do much better, and you will generate more income, by having a website that has a lot of traffic drawn to it. It is not enough just to have the “cool” website with great graphics and great content if nobody knows that it exists. But, “what can I do to generate traffic?” you may ask.

Plenty.

Have you tried writing articles about what is offered on your website on ezinearticles.com? There are some important things to keep in mind when submitting an article:

  1. You cannot write your article as advertisement. That is for the box at the bottom of the article. Your job to get an article published is to provide information. Ezinearticles.com is a source for people to find information. Provide that information, and you will be rewarded with hits to your site.
  2. You cannot have self-serving links, within the body of your article. That is one way to quickly get the article rejected and you will be forced to revise your article so that it will get published. The nice thing is that ezinearticles.com permanently posts your article. It is not like a blog where you need to submit an article every day.
  3. Your title has to meet strict requirements, and for those requirements, see the Terms of Service of ezinearticles.com.

Whatever it is that you do, take careful note to see how your traffic to your site increases. You can always look up the stats on your cpanel of your website. If things don’t increase your traffic, try something else. It is important that you do something, because doing nothing will result in nothing for you.  Take ACTION today!

Have a GREAT day!

Positive Mental Attitude and the New Half-Year

So, today is July 1, 2009 and this is a GREAT day to take assessment of how you are doing, where you are headed, and what can you do to get you there in the most efficient manner. Traditionally, we look at January 1 each year to set goals (resolutions) to lose weight, make more money, get out of debt, etc. Why not the second half of the year to do the same sort of analysis? I believe that it is a good idea.

How is the traffic to your Internet Site? The traditional things have been done and it is found that posting every day on my website (pinging it of course) helps to increase the ranking on Google search engines. I found that when a day (or two or more) is skipped, the ranking tends to go down a bit and the website is further back in the ranks.

What else can drive your traffic? I found that writing articles on ezinearticles.com helps because three months after the article is written, I still get an occasional hit on the website. I have also discovered Twitter and now update my “tweets” every time that I have a new post both here and on one of the blogs that I write. That has helped tremendously.

Now that I have an ebook out there, I do the same things for it, but I am also looking for low cost ways to advertise that book. I haven’t yet made the time to explore fully pay-per-click for this book, and when I get some spare time (what is THAT?) it will be spent looking at that. Perhaps there are things that YOU can think of.

Have a GREAT day!

Internet Marketing Success - Key Words Are, Well, Key

When it comes to having success in the Internet Marketing realm of the world, you have to have good headlines. I still receive a newspaper to my home every day, it has been something that has always been there, even when I was growing up. What stories did I look at? The ones with the interesting and compelling headlines. If it was just a generic, bland headline, I moved on. With people having less and less free time and wanting instant gratification, they won’t even give your website the time of day. When you “ping” you blog or an article on your website, it is so very important to have keywords in the title so that 1) the spiders that search the Internet and rank you page in their search engines will find your site/post much more quickly and 2) when people put in keywords into a search box (like Google) your site has a better chance of showing in the search results.

How do you choose your keywords?

The best free source is just to go to Google and type in the words that would fit the subject that you are writing about. Just one word is not good enough.  If you had a blog about German Shepherd breeding habits, you wouldn’t get any hits by titling your post “Dogs”. Be as specific as you possibly can be. Try “Breeding Habits of Female German Shepherds”. There will be fewer (today = 56,100 results as opposed to dogs = 169,000,000 hits). You want to be in a smaller field to increase your chances of being found.

Face it, traffic is essential to your success. Structure you titles to include keywords that will drive traffic to you.

Have a GREAT day!

Internet Marketing - Lay The Groundwork

The idea behind Internet Marketing is to drive traffic to your website. Having information and services that fill a need will certainly help you in your endeavor. Finding a target audience is another key: you need to find out what sort of things interest your target audience and you cater your website to meet that curiosity. Placing random thoughts, ideas, and offers will draw an occasional random member of your target audience. They may or may not use you as a source of information and, when you offer something to purchase, may or may not make that purchase.

This is where the difficult part comes in. Some Internet Marketers will tell you that you will have a wesbite up and running and drawing hundreds, if not thosands of people with cash in hand, all eager to finance the life of your dreams. Certainly, the Internet provides the opportunity to have more money for your life, but nobody is going to walk up to you on the street and hand you the blueprints for success.

You have to work at it.

And work at it tirelessly. It has already been mentioned that you have to have a bit of a positive mental attitude when it comes to attracting people and directing traffic toward stopping at your website. You have to research keywords to see which ones you should include in your daily (yes, I said daily) entries onto your blog or your website.  That is the foundation of your website. You don’t have to be a great writer to write every day. There is plentyof articles that you can use (just change them up a bit) at websites like sampleresources.com. Read other sites to see what they are talking about. Jot down their ideas, or better yet, create a swipefile of sample writings that you can draw from when you happen to hit a dry spell.

Keep up the good work, and have a GREAT day!!
